Thank you for wording your last post in a way that made me see that I was being a jerkface about expressing my opinion. You shouldn't have to defend your feminist bona fides to me or anyone.

And their family members and loved ones and the system that is full of living people can charge you with that crime.
You know what? You're right. It was shitty of me to come at you like that when I don't know you as a person and don't know about your personal motivations, and I apologize for that. I read things into your original comment that were probably not there, and that's not cool.
All of the organizations you listed have a huge problem with rape and sexual violence. I am sure it's true that most of you are perfectly lovely people- but let's not pretend there aren't huge problems with the culture that we are still struggling to address.
The whole thing is a tangled web, and I admit that I have a hard time remaining detached and unemotional about it, due to my own experiences and the experiences of others that I know. My concern is, if we can't have one without the other- that is, sports culture without misogyny, racism, homophobia, etc.- then lots of…
So now it's gone from "all athletes" to "all men"?
Then explain this chant, please.
The context, in this case, would be the entire rape culture and its overlap with jock culture, which is fucking endemic. That is the fucking context I am talking about.
They don't need any help from me, child.
Athletic culture is fucking rapey. And misogynistic. And frequently racist. The fact that this song- about raping a dead prostitute- is considered "traditional" should probably tip you off.
Well, I don't participate in bawdy songs about having sex with dead bodies- so probably not, by your standards.
Did I say that literally every college male athlete is a rapist? Hmmm... nope, sure didn't.
I was not aware that my disagreeing with her position in any way prevented her shitty comment from being posted and read.
From OP's post: "Yes it's horrible, yes it's stupid, yes we were drunk as hell. But rugby was one of the best environments for me as a woman"
No need to do it in the cafeteria. Do it later at the party. Record it, even- post it to social media. So long as you're an athlete in a place that values athletics over people, the administration will cover it up.
I think it's adorably naive of you to think that men in groups don't know that they can be intimidating. They use it to their advantage all the time.
As if this is one isolated incident. Rape culture is pervasive in college athletics, high school athletics, and Greek organizations. This speaks to a much larger problem than 8 stupid Rugby players and one stupid song, and you fucking know it.
Nice try attempting to strip all context from this. Context is fucking key.
They rape in groups, too.
I'm not attacking her for sharing her experience- I am calling her out for defending this bullshit culture that hurts everyone.
