Yeah, she and Helen Mirren are my goddesses.

She knows her worth!

Sometimes they feel cheap, like in Ghostbusters, which didn’t know if it wanted to be a sequel, a reboot, or god knows what.

There are so many great Julie gifs, but I think you were looking for this one...

I’m confused. Does CNN no longer report on facts anymore?

She still throws a mean right cross:

This:

That gif is great. I haven’t watched the clips posted bc Bill Maher is so insufferable, but based on the quotes in the article, the image of Bill Maher giving the “what’s the big deal shrug” seems to encapsulate his tongue-in-cheek apology here. Opening the show with the joke that “there’s a sinner in your midst” just

I don’t really think it’s appropriate for non-black people to use it in any context.

Have you seen his show? He is spouts islamophobia regularly. So yeah, he’s racist. But also - watch the clip. He dismisses Ice Cubes feelings about things he says in the first minute. He is not listening, he feels no consequence.

Julie Andrews is the classiest woman ever. Although I can’t help wondering if there’s a tiny bit of shade in the idea that Andrews showing up even for a moment would outshine the entire movie. (Which, all due respect to Emily Blunt, is absolutely true.)

In 2017 America? Yes, failure to understand the Black struggle makes you racist. It’s not overt KKK style racism, but it demonstrates a willful ignorance or the pain, suffering, and needs of large part of the US population.

Is it my wine-rotted memory, but I thought she was no longer of capable of much beyond whisper singing, after some botched vocal cord surgery?

Using that word is a racist act, full stop. When you do racist acts it’s not absurd for people to draw the conclusion that you are a racist. In the same sense that when you do many kind acts people will probably draw the conclusion that you’re a kind person. We cannot know someone else’s internal thoughts, so when

I like Julie’s attitude. I cannot stand “cameos” in reboots. The appearance of a former star in a reboot often feels based more on soggy sentimentality than legitimate plot development. A maudlin cameo can drag a picture down into the worst kind of syrupy audience-pandering.

Within the cultural context of the United States, especially when one is employed as a political commentator? Absolutely. Because one cannot seriously feign ignorance under those conditions. Maher wasn’t being ignorant. He was using the history of African American suffering (WHICH HE WAS ALLUDING TO) to benefit

I’m particularly fond of her asking if using the word makes someone racist while repeatedly using it herself. I’m just asking questions, guys! Don’t mind the fact that I’m gleefully using a racial slur over and over again!

Not an African American person (not American, not Black), so take what I’m about to say with an extreme grain of salt, but:

and Maher just keeps on talking...! He seems like the least self-aware guy ever.

Ice Cube’s face said it all for me.
