I’m rather tired of those who weild the argument “but aren’t most of them brats?” as a defence of reprehensible teenagers. I teach 14 year olds and most are respectful, thoughtful, fluent, politically engaged young adults.

What a bizarre argument* ! Monuments/statues are about commemoration, an officially endorsed sign of respect designed to honour the memory of a person/historical event: they are not a reminder of “what not to do again”.
