I didn’t say “Legally obligated.” I said “responsibility,” which I meant in a more moral way. Though there are quite a few legal requirements to be not shitty (not that this woman hit any of them, but still, there *are* for most jobs).

While I agree with the final statement, jobs *do* have a responsibility to be pleasant to work at, particularly if they expect you to give them all your free time as I am guessing publishing companies do.

And please, if you have family/friends in a state with ID restrictions, make sure they’re made aware of what they need to have.

“Her heart was as black as her yoga pants, and just as unforgiving.”

My favorite storied student simile is: “The boat glided across the lake just like a bowling ball wouldn’t.”

I knew someone in publishing who said she found the work environment more stressful than when she worked at a shelter for people escaping domestic abuse.

I’ll just leave this here!

I mean look at the difference in numbers per 100,000 people. Can you explain that?

Now stop trolling. You are 25-30 times more likely to die from guns in the US than you are in another developed nation, in large part due to the fact that we are the only ones with such insanely lax laws regarding gun control.

Sally Wolff should speak to her employers about a percentage interest in the business. This is how start-ups are supposed to work. Yes, you work long hours and yes, you often don’t get paid what your worth. But that’s because you’re trying to start a business. In that situation, you will have two kinds of employees:

“As for the question of small businesses, “the fact of the matter is if the only way a business can succeed is by working someone at 60 hours a week for $25,000 a year, if the profit margin is that small, then that business has really big problems in and of itself,” she said. “That’s not the model we need to embrace

In retrospect this kind of makes me LOL at when everyone was calling for Phelp’s head because he was caught with the bong.

Remember, he’s not an athlete who made a mistake: he’s a criminal who can swim.

Kk99 said, “It obviously could have - but my point still stands - you don’t get to tell people how to spend their own money.”
She / he is allowed to voice his or her opinion on a web site. Just like you’re doing.

I’m a full-time shelter worker*, donate my “extra” cash to four different charities (ASPCA, Shriners Hospitals for Children, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, The Wild Animal Sanctuary) on a monthly basis, and frequently use my own money to buy supplies for my job that I am not able to be reimbursed for, and have three

I would totally trade the Adele album for a new Kesha album. Sony should understand, though, that I am the only person who feels that way.

My girlfriend and I are moving from NYC to L.A. We (she) decided that we’re going to drive there. What steps can I take to make this drive as smooth as possible?

How bizarre. I don’t worship people - their talents, maybe- but not them.
