He’s honestly a very good playwright who attracts and gets great performances for actors in his plays—his film direction is decent but mostly you can see his thinking is theater-oriented. His work has always played for transgression and shock and it’s mileage varies—and varies a lot when it plays on race and race…

He gets fired and gets half his face burnt off. It’s not as though the film does not ‘punish’ him.

For years, I’ve watched Veep and thought to myself, “Thank god there’s no one as terrible and insecure as Jonah, in Washington.” Now we have a White House full of Jonahs but Miller reminds me the most of the character.
