As a nurse I wholeheartedly agree. I got off the floor and got into Nursing Informatics and Health Information Systems. Best career pivot I ever made. I have no plans to retire early and I’m 39. I think they are basing this with a heavy bias towards floor/clinical nurses who do burn out very early and often.

I too have a number of nurses in my family and very few retired early. Most moved into things like discharge planning or went to work for insurance companies later in their career.

Now everyone has multiple points of access to the internet, and it is so easy to diagnose the problem remotely! Great for the user, bad for the business! ;)

I actually work out of my house so I keep a low overhead. It’s also a nicer part of Dallas so while my prices are fair, I don’t have to charge like my friend with a store does in a not as nice area of town.
