Thanks! Pulled down NavFree and the NavFree USA version yesterday. Loaded up my local state and a few places I plan to visit this year overseas. I see that some of the maps are not up-to date; some big traffic flow improvements recently made to my area are not reflected yet. I'd love to help update the maps. Having a

AdBlock has had a way to support the sites you liked for a few years. You can disable blocking for a specific domain, so you can support the sites you like. Sadly, most of the "big boys" have been using Flash and Javascript-based ads which I simply do not tolerate, so AdBlock was re-enabled.

Very nice writeup.

Mine is a knock off - only $400 new. I sat in the Miller (new and used) and didn't like either.

I think the chair in the image is the same model I'm sitting in now. Got it from a used furniture store - don't recall the price, but $150 seems about right. Had to add a cushion so it would be comfortable for more than 30 minutes. It is adjustable in at least 6 different ways. This chair replaced a $300 used chair

Let's see, gmail was in beta for about 5 years.

My android phones won't use the built-in GPS without a data connection. I have a real GPS that is tethered via bluetooth, but haven't taken the time to figure out the magic incantation to get it working inside Android apps.

I've seen asterisk running on small, cheap Atom-based PCs for small companies. This link [forums.plugpbx.org] has instructions for getting Asterisk running on a Dockstar ($30 ARM-based device).

How about an emergency kit I can take on a commercial airplane?

Android likes h.264 inside an mp4 container. That means your xvid files need to be transcoded to be h.264/mp4 files. You can do that manually with any number of tools - handbrake is a common answer.

401(k) and IRAs are yours. When you change jobs, you can transfer the money from a company sponsored 401(k) into an IRA without any cost. If you transfer 401(k) money into a RothIRA, then you will need to pay the taxes on that money 100% this year. Depending on the amount, this might not be a good idea. Your age and

SMART data isn't really that useful unless you watch how it changes over time. The raw numbers are not very useful in predicting drive failures, just the rates of change are any help. Even when you watch it, there's no way to know when it will actually fail.

For the last week, Gawker, LH, etc, have been broken for me.

Joomla [www.joomla.org] was designed and coded by a newspaper IT department.

Not a good deal unless you are including the warranty as part of selling a home. Save the $400 for an emergency fund annually. You need to be saving for home expenses anyway ... new roof, new A/C, new heater, new fridge, new dishwasher, drier, clothes washer, hot water heater ... plumbing things ...

Perhaps you meant you were trying to raise your deductible? Lowering it would cost more. You need to pay more out of pocket to get the insurance rates to go down.

This is an old programmer's trick.

Exactly. Salt water (warm or not) when you have a sore throat does wonders. Of course, if you have strep throat or another medical condition, a doctor visit and medication is still required.
