It was at Borders, which died wretchedly soon thereafter, so I feel like I got the last laugh.

My 7 year old saw the movie poster while in line somewhere and he said “you can’t make a kids movie with Chthulu, he’s evil!”

Is he suggesting that immigrants are being forcibly smuggled into the U.S. against their wills? Why else would they need to be gagged?

Beamish stout on nitro is a delight.

Dammit. I think I’d love this, but Pepsi tastes like pure corn syrup.

Ah, the joys of living in a “right to work” state.

When I visited San Antonio 3 months ago, I went to great lengths to avoid the schmaltzy and expensive restaurants in the downtown area - especially around the river walk.

For the record, the self-serve kiosks are a terrible time drain that clogs up the ordering system during a rush. It takes me 3 minutes to make an order that a cashier could have entered in 10 seconds.

It was $6.80 an hour, 30 hours a week, which equals roughly $10,800 a year. Plus, if they work you 30 hours a week instead of 32, they don’t owe you any benefits. I almost laughed and cried simultaneously when I saw my first paycheck.

This was during college, not now. I actually applied to several Starbucks and never even got an interview.

We did, we got fired.

You’d be disappointed. Apart from libertarian gun nuts and the occasional meth induced mania, Arizona is pretty basic these days.

I would take orders in Starbucks lingo and have to have the customer translate it back to me. I especially resented Starbucks employees after I found out that they made close to 150% of my salary for basically pushing a button on a machine. And often qualified for benefits.

This is true. I was actually trained at Borders’ shitty ass café to give people a little bit extra milk because most people don’t know how a cappuccino is supposed to taste. I often wound up asking “dry cap or wet cap” to confirm.

Thanks for helping me relive all that trauma in one place.

Trier is known for his offense, but after 3 years of Sean Miller’s coaching he does know what’s supposed to happen on defense.

If you’re just there for the price, it’s certainly doing you no good.

If you have the self-control to not fear-trade then it can be useful to track news about a company. I don’t particularly care about how my stocks are doing (I’ve invested in some pretty volatile spaces), but sometimes it’s good to know if there’s a fatal development in the strategy you used to pick your investments in

Seeking Alpha is a great resource if you can overcome your own confirmation bias and spot bullshit analysis. The comments sections, for once, are actually helpful.

I like it.
