Nintendo is better off joining Steam and making peripherals that (if they wanted to) are required to run their games.

Nintendo can keep their wacky controllers and iconic IP like Mario and Zelda. What they don't need is a silly underpowered game machine and obscure social network.

It's a lot like Rocksmith on Steam.

Dota 2 is not similarly monetized as LoL.

In Dota 2, if two teams of similar skills played a match where one team uses brand new accounts, the match will still be even. This is not possible with LoL.

Everything on sale or that drops in Dota is cosmetic. Everything you need to win is already available to you in-game.

That lame metal concert was a unique event to the asshole's memory regardless if it was awesome or not.

The virtual items he purchased won't make that memorable of an impact in his life as a bad night would.

How were you able to quit? What do you play now? First person shooters?

But he does not question the business model. I agree with you that that is the real problem.

Yannick is the perfect example of Riot's strategy.

League of Legends is not free because he is their typical customer. The others who do not buy anything with real money are mostly kids from third world countries who are

I think that you made those purchases because you believe so much in the game and its developers that you find value in the things you spent on. I respect that.

I do not feel the same way. I feel that Riot is a one game company. They did not even make the game itself. They remade Dota. They could not even make

I'm a living, walking example for piracy versus service.

I used to pirate all the games I wanted. I loved those games and thus made an effort to collect them. At first it was with the cheap CDs I bought them in back when the internet was too expensive to download huge installers. When torrents came around and the

Leauge of Legends heroes are not 100% free. While you don't have to pay cash for it, they make you grind for it. Some people consider their time free and thus won't mind spending their time to get features. There are also some people whose time means money to them.

We're not talking about level unlocks here. We're

"(Riot are another prominent example) who tackle the issue the "nice" way, and are seemingly happy (and are being rewarded with sales..."

That has no relation to what Paradox and Steam are doing. It's like saying that Clash of Clans have finally solved the piracy issue. No they haven't. Those are server based

He just said that the customer is absolutely right about complaining and that's a problem they're trying to solve. How is that saying nothing?

Do you want him to tell you how they will solve the problem? Why would he share their ideas with the public if transparency in this case won't solve anything? I don't think

Pretend you're just a fraction of a pro player.

Like his kidney or something. A kidney playing a game.

You can try articles from Yannick LeJacq.

All he ever posts are LoL stuff.

Dota 2 never abandoned multi unit controls. You must be thinking of Leauge of Legends.

It's not enough that Riot gets to tell gamers how to play their game. They now tell gamer's parents how to tell their kids how to play their game.

You really need to have a huge ego to make a Dear Parents letter.

Other more modest developers would analyze the behavior of their userbase and try to fix things on their

It looks like it has fish eye lens because the image is flattened for a 2D screen.

When you use VR, you look through a fish eye lens that turns the fish eye image into a wraparound image to your eyes. you will be looking at the middle of the image where the outer edges are seen by your peripheral vision.

Imagine a

I've got good news for you. The only VR device right now that has made a breakthrough in "not making people vomit" is the Steam VR's laster tracking. Your head's movement corresponds to your movement in virtual reality. The lag or lack of 1:1 movement in other VR headsets is the cause of nauseous sensations.

It's not only the character variety.

In Dota 2, each character is like a different game with different rules of play. Dota heroes have abilities that seem unfair and game breaking.

Now imagine a scenario where Spiderman fights Wolverine. Imagine a helicopter gunship joining the fight. Now imagine Dracula wants in

Only LoL has a farming minigame in the start. They have a farming specific role and farming specific heroes which is why so many are raging about the LoL jungle revision.
