I think everyone knows, and I think Republicans are counting on Democrats to remove their own when something like this happens. Make no mistake, Franken absolutely needs to resign, but whereas Democrats will take the moral high ground, Republicans will not.

Everyone? Great, show “them.” And all those white women who voted for Trump will suddenly see the light and not do so a second time, and all those women voting and campaigning for Moore will be won over by our righteous seizure of the “moral high-ground.” Fantasy. I mean, whether he resigns or not, it’s not likely

Matt fucking Lauer. This fucking dirtbag is just one more example of structural media misogyny. His treatment of women isn’t a “behind closed doors” problem that only affected the poor employees he harassed, bullied and exploited. Does anyone else remember the sexist shitshow of presidential debate that Lauer

Awwww FFS, this sucks but let’s lance the boil and get rid of all the scum.

Matt Lauer’s firing was about as expected as Donald Trump’s incompetence. Figuring out who sexually harasses women isn’t very difficult to predict. Lauer consistently gave Trump and O’Reilly a pass on their shitty behavior while grilling HRC about emails and telling her to keep her answers brief.

He never did that to ME... Classic Ann, you beautiful tropical fish. You’re smart as a whip and you’re cool under pressure

I love Rashida. I bet Pixar was overwhelmed with relief when they started reading, but then she hit them with that last sentence like:

I almost drove off the road in a rage this morning when a talk radio host suggested that all of these accusations at once “lessens their impact”.

“Man accused of sexual assault wishes women would stop reporting their experiences of sexual assault”. I am shocked.

Whenever a man brings that up, I always think that the man has no idea what is appropriate and what is inappropriate, has likely done something inappropriate because of how stupid he is, and is now scared of getting called out.

I’m enjoying watching it all burn down way too much, lol.

You can add Louis CK. He’s cancelled the premiere of his new film, and his talk show appearances in advance of a NY Times article said to be forthcoming....

I can’t even imagine how Uma Thurman must feel right now. Her two biggest movies were Weinstein productions (Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill).

Wow, one of them actually gave away the gameplan! I’ve been saying for 20+ years, all they want is more people, in more desperate situations, who are willing to do more work for less compensation.

I think this is an important lesson in allyship and how being an ally means taking on risks. Publicly outing a rapist based on anonymous claims can be the right thing to do. It can be justice in action. However, it is not without repercussions. The outer should be prepared to take on the burden of those consequences.

It’s a fair point to make, but I disagree with you, and agree with Diana, that words should/do matter. Basic English and reading comprehension take care of the presumption of innocence when the reporter properly attributes quotes and statements. There’s no need for a spotlight and kabuki around the word ‘alleged’.

In my Mass Media Law class in college, I was taught that “allegedly” is a weak protection, and it’s safer to carefully source allegations and not use that word.

This post isn’t advocating for anyone publishing whatever they want. It’s advocating for more precise language when dealing with these matters, not less.

If they rewrite the balance of the final season so Claire has Francis killed and assumes power - THAT WOULD ACTUALLY COMPORT WITH THE SOURCE MATERIAL! Let Robin Wright carry the season (she’s been the real standout anyway, but this is the way the original story goes)
