I suspect that less knowledgeable buyers (e.g. grandparents who know nothing about tech/games) see the word “game” in “Gamestop” and that’s enough for them to go in for Christmas shopping. To actual gamers, it’s painfully obvious that you can easily get the same things from Walmart and Best Buy, but other demographics

Still, you can get brand new games/consoles/accessories from Best Buy and Walmart and Costco and other retailers - and if you keep an eye out for sales, you can actually get brand new games that undercut Gamestop’s used prices.

I’m not even talking about 4k/60 though. I’m talking about struggling to hit a 30 fps limit despite resolution and details already taking a massive hit compared to other versions.

It probably won’t, just like many of the multiplatform AAA titles that get belated Switch ports. Expect to see 30 fps caps that frequently dip into the low 20s (or worse) during intense scenes.

yep I mentioned that in the third paragraph. However that only benefits games where every microsecond of latency actually matters. If you’re already accustomed to playing wirelessly and don’t care about the latency advantage of a direct wired connection, then there’s no need to specially go out and buy a long USB

You don’t need a super long cable if you want to charge continuously while playing.

Yep, I enjoy movies like Top Gun and Mission Impossible but that doesn’t make me a Scientologist.

Whether one agrees with Rowling or not (I certainly do not have any respect for her), the PS5 subreddit is for discussion of PS5 hardware and games. If anyone wants to debate transgender topics, there are other subreddits for that. It’s a completely reasonable move to ban all discussion of Rowling (whether positive or

The regional pricing in South American countries is a LOT lower than in developed countries. For example if you pay in Brazilian reals or Argentine pesos it’s half the cost of the US price when converted to USD.

Pretty much what happened to one of Jeffrey Dahmer’s victims. Two well-meaning ladies saved him and called the cops, only for the cops to laugh it off as a “squabble between homosexuals” and literally hand the boy over to be killed.

Not just mistakes - Karens go ballistic over issues that have literally nothing to do with the frontline employees who don’t set the policies or control what’s in inventory. They’ll use minimum wage workers as literal punching bags to voice their disagreements with mask requirements, for example.

It has some “value” as a relatively safe/convenient place to trade/sell old games and systems and buy used games/systems. Yeah the values are trash but there’s a little more peace of mind compared to a private transaction. That said, Best Buy and other retailers can easily eat Gamestop’s lunch here too.

It’s priced like a luxury vehicle and at that price point a lot of consumers are conditioned to believe that performance is “needed” even if they’re crawling in bumper-to-bumper traffic 99% of the time.

The “6" here refers to the Wi-Fi generation, not the broadcast frequency. On WiFi 6, your frequency options are still 2.4/5Ghz like before.

Yes, 720p divides evenly - but many games were sub-720p. 540p and 600p were very common resolutions in the PS3/360 era as those consoles just didn’t quite have the grunt. That will look far worse.

Not only that, but use already-flawed smartphone ports as the source material for the remaster, rather than the original PC/console releases.

As well as offline LAN support especially for coop games. Just disable rankings and whatever.

Old-school PC multiplayer games like the original COD without server-side rankings and stuff typically shift the responsibility of server hosting onto the community, so there wasn’t any cost incurred by the developers, and thus no plug to pull.

I use wifi with my phone, laptop, Switch, TV, etc because those are devices that I either move around a lot or that don’t benefit from extreme speed/latency. For anything that stays in the same place almost 100% of the time - like my desktop PC or my PS5 - I use wired, because why not? Even the most expensive WiFi 6

Average speeds have been improving for a while, but the upload/download rates aren’t actually the limiting factor in cloud streaming. Downloading at 1 Gbps has the exact same input latency as downloading at 50 Mbps. The speed at which each individual packet traverses the physical connection is not something either the
