You can control the volume of individual software titles independently (at least in Windows). Turn your browser down, leave your work tool turned up.

That logic doesn’t follow. Say you’re one of those people who always has a nasty cough - you’re not sick, you just cough a lot. But YOU know that you’re not contagiously sick. Why should you refrain from coughing into your fist, just because strangers are afraid?

Nope! Seems like common sense, though. How many millions upon millions of people live with allergies, COPD, or other non-infectious conditions day-in and day-out, versus the fleeting percentage who just happen to be sick today?
