There’s only one rule if you’re a comedian making fun of someone or a group of people: punch up. Want to make fun of Mango Voldemort and his family of grifters? Go for it. Want to make fun of homeless people? You, sir, are distasteful and need to go spend some time with the homeless to see how often someone is one…

In the end, he was free to say what he wanted.  He even got paid for it.  And then he was able to say it to millions of people all over the world.  The fact that his special exists is proof that he’s wrong.

If your “comedy” involves punching down at marginalized people who face murder and suicide at a much higher rate than the general population then you’re not doing comedy, you’re spewing hate speech.

They all also had a healthy understanding of what their job was and the resulting responsibilities that came with it.
