I was upgraded for a flight from Philly to Puerto Rico once, in 2000. The accommodations were nice. A full meal, wine, and all that little crap they do like a insanely hot towel (how is that refreshing, I don't know), and so forth. It was a 4 hour or so flight, and technically domestic.

The best example of yours to pick apart is homes. Yes, they are ALL monster-sized and more luxurious. You can't get a single family home that's been built since the 90s that's less than a mansion. In that way, they've gone up astronomically in price.

A child wouldn't cost less than a full grown normal weight adult. It's only heavy people that would have to pay an additional cost.
My experience with in-flight WiFi is that it cuts out often. It will go fine for 30-40 minutes, then poof, it's like walking through a tunnel for 5-10 minutes.
