Well, anything that records information can be considered a "data" whatever. There's information on that "video" cassette that is translated by the player to a signal that the TV or other output device can understand.
I remember the tabs! And floppy disks used to have stickers to cover the notch that was cut out on the side to allow writing. I remember cutting notches of my own out on disks I wanted to overwrite.
Why? If someone wants to do it, go right ahead. I think the archival of news-type programs could prove invaluable to looking back at historical events. 100 years from now, people could watch the events unfolding during the Arab Spring, 9/11, Putin's annexation of Crimea. I love things like that in the Simpsons. I would think a lot of effort went into naming those products and it was just for such a brief little gag that most people probably didn't even notice until they saw the episode 900 times.

I loved that game. They made it three times. The first was TMNT, the second was The Simpsons, and third it was X-Men. Were there other editions of that same game afterwards?
