A lot of them come with a perfectly fine belt that's made of fabric that matches the pants. I like to have exactly one thing in any given pocket (and I hate using back pockets since I sit on whatever's in them), so cargo pants are perfect for me. Wallet, keys, sunglasses, and phone all get their own pocket so I

I see nothing wrong with a fedora. Go for it. I also see nothing wrong with any hat you like. Just make the outfit work, that is, don't wear it with, as you say, ironic Thudercats tshirts and skinny jeans down around your ass.

I wanted to add that, yes, you're right about the Niles-Maris relationship being more complex than my post implied.

IIRC, there were several conversations between Frasier and Niles about Niles leaving Maris and his fear of her was mentioned more than once.
