A middle ground doesn't exist on arbitrary factors of acceptable or unacceptable features. The firearm isn't the problem, its the people using the firearms.

Even though AR15's are routinely used to hunt hogs. Even though .308 chambered AR10's are used to hunt....well anything that a .308 round can take.

So even though the M1 Garand is a Semi-Automatic rifle, with a cartridge VASTLY more powerful than the measly .223 round fired by the AR15, its some how less deadly than an AR15 simply because it has a smaller Magazine size?

The problem with regulation on firearms is they aren't used in the same manner as say...a drivers license.
