As a Bruins fan who was at Game 6 in 2013, I take mild umbrage at “Chicago knew how to win” line. At that point, the Bruins were the more recent Stanley Cup champions (2011 vs 2010), so I don’t think knowledge or experience was a factor. The series came down to puck luck, which is often the case between championship

Another way to look at it is, is also which distinction do people put emotional significance into. I’ve been a Bruins STH for 18 seasons. The team has 1 Stanley Cup and 1 President’s Trophy. One of those resulted in a parade, lots of great merchandise, a banner, and all sort of other fun stuff. The other was never

Sean McIndoe, (Down Goes Brown) on the Athletic had a great column on Monday.

Or “Bendix like Bendix” which means “Straight into the chest of the keeper.”

He’s no Jerry Gergich.

My female friends and co-workers all have a story. Too many men are disgusting.

Technically every country has 9/11. Though for some it’s the 9th of November.

Oh now feel it, comin’ back again
Like a rollin’, thunder chasing the wind
Forces pullin’ from
The center of the earth again
I can feel it.

As always, the English are the worst.

And this matters why?

I generally agree with you. The retribution game is a dumb game. I can rattle off at least a dozen such controversies I’ve seen over the years, both for and against, that have been, were and are inherently stupid. In a perfect world, those things don’t happen, and we can watch the beautiful game.

Reality is neither clever, nor profound.

Ha. A lot does depend on how one judges fairness. Is it a balancing of the equation, so the sum effect is zero? That is an impossible standard, yet I think for many when thinking of fairness, that is the expectation. Fairness is an emotional construct, not an objective one.

And you probably shouldn’t put so much emotional stock in the successes and failures of the teams you support. Unless you work for the team or play on the ice, you are simply a passenger, a spectator, whose only true worth to “the team” is as a dollar sign. (And if you are a Maple Leafs fan, then you are worth 30%

I will readily admit luck has something to do with it, but there is an enduring popularity of stories of Persian defeat (even to this day) that makes probability of that luck, a little more certain.

You’re trying to make a joke, but you make my point, but you’re being too gendered. Hockey is simply one of the many manifestations of humanity, a humanity that exists in a Hobbesian reality.

That’s fine and is your choice as a consumer of entertainment.

I like to borrow a line from The Wire when thinking about situations like this, “This is Baltimore, Gentlemen. The Gods will not save you.”

Also the sound of that scene is perfect. Silence except for the lapping water on the boats.

The erection you had writing this must have been mastiff.
