Very valid, but I don’t really think the “acoustic/not acoustic” discussion is worthy of a lot of effort. For me acoustic lies on the instrument (acoustic guitars rather than electric guitars). I don’t think it ruins the purity of “acoustic” if the sound is run through an amp, both for amplification or modification.

This guy Brno’s his stuff.

Was the cabbage cooked or raw? Raw cabbage would be okay, but if they cooked it, that would be...unfortunate.

I think this is why there was a great affinity between Motorhead and The Ramones. They just wanted to rock as fast as possible.

Total Panik move by the Blackhawks.

I’m surprised he just doesn’t take the money and run.

That is sort of how language works. Otherwise, it would be Canadian Flicce instead of Canadian Bacon,

While I agree with you in terms of how divergent the Nirvana version is from the Bowie original, that’s not necessarily an important metric for me for covers.

I heard from a friend of a friend who is in the music business, (and it was later mentioned in an interview with Reznor) that while Trent liked Cash’s version, the music video for Cash’s version blew him away.

The guy did play on the football team and smoked a lot of weed, so I’m chalking it up to high/concussed.

Make sense. Monday was Bowie’s birthday, so his alien powers are on our minds. Elvis’ too.

I went to high school with a guy who argued that Pink Floyd was “imitation U2"...which is wrong on so many levels.

“I can’t sit back and watch it anymore,” Tom said. “There’s a point where every American has to stand up and say, ‘Look, our kids aren’t going to have a future or anything to look forward to if the constitution keeps getting trashed the way it is.”

I wish there was more here. I’ve never understood the Constitutional

Obviously, musical taste is highly subjective and relative. I think a lot of how people view it will be based on whose version you were exposed to first. For example, as a kid in the 90's this was my entry to Bowie. For me the plaintive nature of Kurt’s voice seems tonally more powerful, than the more high concept

Nirvana’s version of “Man Who Sold The World” from MTV Unplugged is fantastic.

He probably also puts ketchup on a well-done steak.

That’s what the dealers are betting on. People are too lazy, so they get free advertising.

Enjoy it like went they went undefeated at 15-1.

I was in the Raleigh Durham area for business and made it a point to go visit this bridge. Believe me, I was rooting for a too-tall truck or van or bus to come, but alas, it was not to be.

Ha! Very true.

My basic point though, is while rationally I understand the cyclical nature of sports, emotionally and aesthetically, the down times in the cycle are sometimes a slog to get through. Also, success in sporting franchises, is so variable, that a down cycle can last a long time. So you want the good cycles
