What is funny is that you can buy sub $5k running/driving examples of all of these cars...except the Mk IV supra which is hard to find with TT and 6-spd for less than $25k. What gives? I don't think anyone would have predicted it in 1993 and I still don't think it has anything to do with the Fast and Furious movie,

Lots of electric conversions out there, seen an E-RX-7, E-Ghia, E-Sonett...but the award for strangest electric goes to...E-996 911 'Vert. Whoa nellie!! Guess the owner got sick of replacing water cooled Porsche engines at $18k a pop.

Actually, I think the Car Show was great for his career because next to Adam "says random stuff with his mouth closed" Corolla and the old prissy sweater vest dude, Matt looked like a freakin genius. In all fairness, compared to the other two all Matt need to do was keep his fly zipped up, but seriously he was the

Blue lines = handicap spot?

You can find basket cases for $2k or get nice drivers for $7500...which is chump change compared to anything from mainland Europe with 2 doors. The engines are pretty horrible and unrefined, but that can be said for many classics...cough-cough-Beetle-cough-cough.

Just needs some Nu Finish and buffing, like this $11k Lambo.

The Volvo 1800 has been a cheap classic for many years now, but the nice/original ones are starting to show signs of being worth more than the cost of a few oil changes. For instance, this 19,000 mile original condition survivor 1972 ES (the wagon) just failed to meet reserve on ebay for $17k, yikes! Get one now

Ah, and that explains the euro plate too! Street cred intact. ;)

Hold on...does he drive a VW Beetle Convertible? Not good for the street cred man..I hope that was a rental...

Of course you can change your mind!! I think Matt should just pony up the cash from some Gawker corporate slush fund (I'm sure these exist...right :)) to buy you a D5200 with Wu-1a wireless adapter that will send the pics directly to apple devices. It is about $795, a few more bucks than your average E30 wreck, but

The only way to make this thing cool is to swap the actual engine in the front for a veggie burning diesel.

Can we all pool our money together and get Bill a new camera? Seriously, these pictures look like they were taken by a 10 year old Samsung flip phone.

Old worn out drum brakes?

If they put a thunderchicken on the hood of the Cruze diesel then I'd consider buying one. Wait, i found one.

It needs a little curly tail.

You should include a section on what it means to be closed loop vs open loop and talk about the job of modern day O2 sensors, especially wide bands that appear in every kind of car. Also, you mention that the CPS sees decreased engine speed and opens throttle and sends longer pulses to injectors, this isn't 100% true

Massa: Hey, help push.

As I said in my long winded oppo post the Inconvenient Fun, I do love the first gen insight for its mixture of fun and frugality. It shows how you can save the planet without driving a Prius. Good catch on the VW concept! I wonder if it will also be around 2000 lbs, feature an aluminum chassis & clutch pedal.
