I have no insight on how things run at the top tiers but for all the shoots I’ve been a part of; it’s absolutely the art/creative director and her boss(es) that dictate the shoot theme. Models are worked on, dressed up, put into position, and given direction.

Cultural appropriation should be spelled with numbers and barks because it has lost all meaning now.

We expect too much from celebrities.

I would imagine she would be contractually bound. Vogue is a big deal, so she’s like “awyeah” and signs the contract. When she gets there and they say “put on this gear” she’s got little recourse. Not as a diss, but I don’t know how culturally nuanced this kid is. She probably saw the clothes and was “oooo pretty!”

there was some stink in China and Japan about Zhang Ziyi in Memoirs of a Geisha

There are about a dozen reasons why Beyonce put out a superior album. No doubt Lemonade is better than Easy Listening at the Dentist’s Office or whatever Adele’s album was called.

Maybe Megan wanted Karlie to sign off with:

Alright, it’s kinda hilarious to say her apology is okay except for her sign off. Would “From, Karlie” have been enough? Maybe “Best Wishes, Karlie” or “Lates, KarKar”? “Sincerely, Karlie” is pretty much the most professional without being pretentious choice that places an emphasis on her words being genuine. I don’t

I guess it doesn’t matter that she didn’t do yellowface.

Um. Shouldn’t the ire be directed at Vogue and their photographer and art director who developed this concept rather than not Kylie.? Yes she could have said NOPE but the people at the magazine who thought this was a good idea should get the brunt of the ire.

Racism is when someone thinks a race a beneath theirs, this was not racism. She thought a kimono was hip and didn’t take into account the cultural significance.

Give us a quote from this article that has a personal statement. Maybe I missed it, but I didn’t see anything about personal feelings or statements.

At this point, I’m no longer anti-Trump...I’m simply pro-competence and pro-professionalism. My bar has dropped so far that I’m thinking to myself that Ted Cruz wouldn’t have been so bad.

I love how all the Trump supporters in the comments who are ‘appalled’ at Gizmodo expressing something vaguely akin to a political bias (gasp!) can’t recognize that Donald Trump is, at this point, far beyond the traditional left / right divide in Washington discourse.

“I’m as anti-Trump as can be, but let’s just let him fuck everything up without questioning any of it for the next four years.”

Just imagine if the following events happened during Obama and/or a hypothetical Clinton administration:

Somewhere, there’s a painting of her getting prettier.

I don’t call them conservatives anymore, they’re extremists. And the reason they believe stupid things is because they ingest a steady diet of Fox not-news and nutty extremist websites. their votes and their very thoughts are based upon lies.

“Everybody makes mistakes,” she said.
