Someone on the main page is criticizing her for attending and I'm thinking you'd be crazy not to go just for this reason. So much fun to be had! And you get the inside dirt. And there must be alcohol. When I was working I got invites to political parties for people I reeeeeally didn't agree with. I always went. You

“He was too drunk to understand his actions”

I dont get this “too drunk to rape” logic anyway. If I get wasted, get behind the wheel of a car, and kill someone it doesn’t stop being a crime because I was drunk, it just becomes negligence. I’ve said it before and I’ll repeat it now. Irresponsible drinking does not absolve you of responsibility for your actions.

I think it might’ve been possible to beg for leniency/mercy without trivializing the crime and dismissing the the victim. In fact, I’m sure of it.

I have an uncle who is schizophrenic. In the mid 90s, he was arrested for attacking a repo man with a cricket bat. He left that poor man with serious, life changing injuries. My grandparents were asked to write a letter to the judge to help his defense and they wrestled with what to write.

They should be mortified that they’ve eternalized forever that they believe that their son not enjoying steak is the same as the victim’s life never being the same. They should get some perspective and understand that this kind of attitude is what lead to their son becoming a vicious rapist.

I find that I am completely ok with demonising this particular parent for trying to get his rapist spawn off with a slap on the wrist.

If he were my son, I would be embarrassed and write a letter to the court APOLOGIZING for raising someone like him, not crying about how stressed he is because he got caught.

But guys, Brock does not enjoy eating steaks and pretzels anymore! Hasn’t he been punished enough???

It is not frowned upon to anything like the degree it is in the States and as far as I know their medical authorities do not advise complete abstinence- certainly not of women who aren’t even pregnant- as does the CDC.

Your argument, you provide proof.

No, that’s not how it works at all. There is plenty of evidence that supports the claim that moderate drinking during pregnancy does not carry elevated risk. Interpreting the lack of a double blind study in the way you have above is misleading and untruthful.

this is a terrible comment. There is a reason you can’t prove the cleft palate was caused by the occasional glass of wine. They probably had organic food too, maybe that caused it? Need a class or a) anecdotes are not data and b) correlation is not causation. Oh, and C, maybe they lied about the “every now and then”

Going by your grammar and your attitude, I’m going to assume the reason your friends’ kids had problems has less to do with alcohol and more to do with you all living in some kind of highly inbred hill people religious cult.

Replied to OP but not sure if i’ll be ungreyed there. Cleft palates/lips form by 12 weeks, so even if alcohol alone can cause it, it's certainly not caused by drinking in the second and third trimesters.

Sure you can- pregnant women in Western Europe drink pretty regularly in pregnancy- lightly, but regularly. The fact they aren’t having any problems will almost certainly be brushed aside here in the States with the words, “OH, in Europe” as though they are an alien species.

I wish that were my experience. I've met/known plenty of guys who (aside from the obvious trader types) legit come from a lot of money who are absolute douches about it. Think the Winkelvoss twins. I mean, I don't know them. Maybe they're nice but they seem like the douchy money type.

I've got to say — he probably doesn't have any money. People who make a good living (or who have family money, or investments) usually don't scream about it like this. Traders are dickwads, but they're usually a different kind of dickwad.
