Oh, no doubt.. humanity has come a long way.. but most of the delays and struggles have been not due to our own lack of knowledge, but rather subsets of our own species saying “no” at almost every turn and preferring their own comfort or the willful subjugation of others simply because they wish.

You know what?  I love Maude, with her old fashioned name and her adorable twitter handle and her strength and courage. I hope she is offered an amazing job where she’s happy as a clam for the rest of her life, amen.

Now playing

John Oliver has a great piece on just how much bullshit is involved in the Miss America organization’s claims about scholarships:

Look upon the end results of AMERICAN capitalism. Human life is less important than money.

Thank you fot the reminder...it’s so hard to keep up with all this shit.

That’s one of the most depressing things about Miss America. It’s the largest scholarship organization for women.

Good for her. I wish her luck. She can and will do so much better.

A few days after Trump mocked the #MeToo movement. He enables this kind of behavior. His followers see it, figure since he does it, they can too, and do it.

I still remember vividly watching parts of a Republican debate taking place at the Reagan library. I don’t remember they year, but Ron Paul was asked a question regarding a patient in a coma who didn’t have insurance. Should they just pull the plug?

My dad was stationed in the Fulda Gap when we lived in Germany.

That fear was real, and omnipresent.  People who didn’t live through it may find it easy to pooh-pooh now, but god damn, was the idea of that barrier being broken terrifying.

I’m an actual Cold Warrior. We all lived in fear of “the Fulda Gap.”

It can be really difficult to move a senior in hospice care, particularly in their own home. Often, they don’t want to be moved where they have lived for many years, and they wish to die where they have their memories. They have equipment needs that have been set up in their homes—an electrically powered oxygen

Maybe just let people vent their anger.

They already are capping for these murderers saying “no one reasonable finds the company at fault”. It’s disgusting.
