Some people just love to use the word “shade,” whether it’s applicable or not.

I am terribly sorry for your loss, Flying Squid. May some good memories find their way to the surface of your mind today. And I don't know the nature of your illness/health status, but I hope that will improve soon too.

For Today I am a Boy by Kim Fu was pretty good.

You know that I have been thinking of you. I love the phrase “may her memory be a blessing” - may your aunt’s memory *continue* to be a blessing and a guiding light when you need one.

I am late, late, late to the SNS party. We went to what used to be the Vegan Beer and Food Festival, now called Eat Drink Vegan, which is in Pasadena. Drank some beer and cider, but the drink highlight for me was the Chai and the Pomegranate Lemonade kombucha flavors from Humm out of Bend, Oregon. So hot out there

Generally durian has to be cooked or processed in some way in order to be palatable. Also, durian does smell bad/pungent, but I hate the smell of Red Hawk cheese much more.

Not that fancy graffiti alley in the Mission near the Good Vibrations store? I’m trying to remember the street name... It’s been nearly four years since I regretfully left the area and I’ve blocked a lot of memories. And of course all I can think of is Dore Alley - so not the same thing...

Off topic, but I love your username. Keep on burnernating the countryside and the peasants, dragon-man!

Now playing

Very (very!) unpopular opinion - but here I go again, on my own! - IDGAF. Yeah, I’m an old. But remember when Bravo aired, y’know, arts-related things? I say burn the whole current iteration of Bravo to the ground, from horrible Housewives to yelling sycophantic Andy Cohen and everything in between, and salt the

It’s odd how hipsterishly prescient that song was. Sounds like early Diplo/M.I.A. and of course that means it was “baile funk” way before they adopted it. Pre-dating the whole “tropical house” boom we’re currently experiencing by at least 8 years - who’d have thought?

Well, they (Britney and Kevin) *were* both dancers. A friend of mine was a dancer extra in a music video with K. Fed - said he was a much more impressive dancer than we ever got to see.

I don’t like Adam Levine for various and sundry reasons, but this is a grand gesture on his part. Good for him. May her family find peace.

This might be a good time for you to be single, or this might be a great time to discuss boundaries with your current BF. (For example, he might be down with you kissing other people, but not more than that. That sort of thing.) You two might want to explore being poly. There’s a lot to consider. Just make sure you

Oooh, good one. I am terribly jealous. I love to DJ but haven’t even tried to get gigs in my current city. I shyly approached my fave bar about it last week. Congrats on what it sounds like was a good experience for you!

I am drinking an iced tea with the surprisingly ineffectual Monin almond syrup. I wish it was a boozy drink. Mr. Whisperer is helping my father re-paint the fence. He’s a good egg.

Yes! The Mark of Venus! I confess: I have a terrible weakness for people who have them.

Deerlady83, I don’t think we have ever interacted here, but I wanted to tell you that you have my sympathy. I went through that process with my beloved maternal grandmother almost three years ago now. It’s very intense. I hope that you are able to practice some form of self-care while you’re helping your aunt.

Can you be more specific about what happens when she does it? Is it that she goes on and on, or something else? I want to know more before putting in my $0.02.
