that’s what I’ve feared, they took 6 years between lateralus and 10000 days and ended up making the exact same album (complete with a 20 minute title track with a timpani solo)..although I think 10k days was a little tighter

It varies in my opinion, S1 was a chore, s2 improved on that greatly (mostly because it was paying off a lot of what happened in S1), it goes through this routine for roughly the first 6 (which I feel is the highpoint), s7 is where things kind of go off the rails, but not nearly as badly as a lot of these drama queens…
