Gawd, those fat free assholes. Nowadays it’s gluten or carbs but it’s always something.

I worked for a while at an Ice Cream Shoppe. I had the most junior position, the scooper, partly because I’m a big guy with forearms that could wrestle the still-frozen stuff out of the tubs. The server jobs were the ones you wanted because tip$. I was pretty young and the place was often packed, so I had to move the…
The level of celebrity worship that goes on in our current late capitalist era says everything about how fucked up our priorities are.
Wait. Her father is John McCain? I don’t think I’ve ever heard that.
I never signed the “No Body-Snarking” Pledge. I will continue to critique the outward appearance of people I find to be ugly on the inside. I’m sure yours won’t be the only “tut-tut” I receive. I’m looking forward particularly to Richard’s.
“There’s always going to be ridiculous people in the world” says John McCain’s ridiculous daughter.
My maiden name was Anglicized French for “of the laurel”. Which isn’t really a proper last name; some ancestor of mine got an award and tacked it onto his name. It’s like if I said my name was Jane Wonfivebucksinthelottery.
I think they need to get the hell out of there to make a point, and for the Republicans in Georgia to feel the economic fallout of their political decisions. But I agree these companies should remain engaged in the political debate by donating to pro-choice candidates and organizations. But they need to pull out and…

I wonder if pearls would be clutched so hard if she weren’t white and pretty?
Being in a Union should be a fundamental right. Good for Warren and the other Democratic candidates for recognizing it. The parts of the developed world that have surpassed our standard of living do guarantee the right to Unionize.
Sorry, I can’t agree with this. The only thing these kind of people seem to understand is dollars and sometimes you have to take it away from them. Why should they profit when they’re trying to control and punish over half the population?
Thats the whole point of the boycott. To enforce people to make choices. They can keep their bill, but get no money. Lose bill, get money. If there was no negative consequence then boycotting wouldn't work.
I think that’s especially true of this particular law. My understanding is that, since the fetus as classified as a person, a person leaving Georgia to obtain an abortion could be charged with conspiracy to commit murder. The companies can’t put their female employees in that position.
True enough but all boycotts can’t directly affect everyone directly. As commenter TheBurnersMyDestination pointed out those production companies don’t owe Georgia any jobs. They brought jobs over when it was the kind of environment they wanted to work in and they’re perfectly justified in moving those jobs away since…
Libertarians want government-by-toddler: “I don’t wanna, and you can’t make me!” That said, I live in NH, which has had a pretty steady influx of libertarians over the past 20 years. Here’s a surprising fact about these people when they really get to what they want: It seems that a lot of them want to date really…
When she tweeted about this last month, she noted that boycotts have actually been successful in the fight for civil rights in the past. Near as I can tell, her argument against it this time is because it would gore her ox.
As the Post notes, Hollywood heavy hitters who film in Georgia, including Disney, have said they are seriously considering taking their films elsewhere.
But, and this is a novel idea, why not do both? Take your money and bring it somewhere less anti women and also contribute to the campaigns of those going against the GOP. Win win. There are great people in Georgia, but the rest have been voting these assholes in for decades. Actions have consequences.
