Apple could be just as profitable selling laptops less frequently if the profit margin on each laptop is higher than it was before. Since they’re now manufacturing their own chips that is almost certainly the case.

Why does that mean that Macs are dying?

Couldn’t it just mean that Macs are so good that they are lasting longer than ever, and therefore people are buying them less frequently?

That’s not the case at my Costco, there’s no one stopping people from entering through the exit to go to the service desk or the food court.

It’s “open to the public” in the sense that no one will stop you, but it’s not really meant to be used by non-members.

Currently I do a quick flash of the card when I enter the store, and another quick flash of the card while waiting in the checkout line. If that changes to one scan while entering the store and some cheaters never make it in, then I could see it slightly speeding up overall.

I guess the question is whether this more often makes people feel like they’re being “treated like criminals,” or whether it makes them feel like they’re part of an exclusive club and special for it.
