You do not name products for what you hope they will be, you name them for what they are - what they actually accomplish.

It was marketed as something that would revolutionize TV. Microsoft also partnered with the NFL (because both are bleeding millions), that only North Americans really care about, despite the NFL's best attempts (American football in the UK? Honestly?)

It does not describe the experience because that experience is not global.

But they apparently didn't have enough money or smarts to do any research in international markets (read - non- North American) to pick a name that would be accepted and accurately describe their new experience..?
