iOS doesn’t have a back button on the bottom because nearly every app that implements a back button (unless they’ve overridden the gesture or written their back functionality entirely from scratch) can be navigated with an edge swipe anywhere along the side of the screen. I was just at a major animal hospital with my cat the other day (the University of Penn...he needed a MRI.) Within an hour two different people came in with ‘service animals.’ Both were goldens and both wore service dog vests.
