I’m not one to clutch pearls, but this joke seems to be in incredibly poor taste to me. Especially since the victims of such abuse are often the only ones wondering “why now?” when it’s clear the guy is a piece of shit and needs no reason.

Regarding ‘bossy’, it sounds like the problem isn’t the word per se, but differing attitudes towards self-possessed men versus self-possessed women. So instead of attacking the word, shouldn’t we instead focus on those attitudes?
