Actually the GM ignition switch ALSO involved a coverup. They found the faulty switch circa 2005, redesigned it to eliminate the flaw, and then covered-up the modification (rather than inform the government/customers as required by law). Really? This one is obvious. Hand him a small portable packet of Kleenex and tell him, “Use them!!!”

There are lots of used EVs for cheap. The Chevy Volt which can be purchased 10 to 15 thousand dollars, and has a backup engine if the EV battery runs dry.

P.S.. at least with an EV I could refill at home while I sleep (so basically zero time wasted).

Hydrogen does neither of these. My leased Mercedes HV only goes 300 miles between fillups, and then I have to stand for 20 minutes (4 minutes per kilogram) waiting for the stupid thing to refill. I hate my car.

Your work must be like my school..... it’s only a third-of-a-mile from my house, but there’s No direct road to the place. It takes almost ten minutes drive

Michigan has emissions inspection.

They could also “run rich” like they did to pass the test, but doing so will damage the engine (fuel dilution of the oil).

.VOLKSWAGEN said they plan to repair & resell the cars. “So please do not remove any parts when you return the vehicle.”

An exaggeration. They run about as clean as the TDIs sold from 2000 to 2006 (qualified as Transitional Low-emission vehicles). That’s only ten years ago.
