I think this sounds like a good idea. Easier to control the assist of an electric motor than to control the boost of a turbo. I wonder what they will do when we start seeing turbos compounded with motor/generators on road cars?

There is no gear reduction in the Prius, the only gear ratio is in the final drive, just as it is with the Regera. Who needs gear reduction when you primary traction motor is electric?
