The issue isn’t texting and driving. The issue is allowing robot intelligence to override the decisions of the actual driver of the car.
When I do text, I slow down (in the right lane), glance down and type one word, look back up for a few seconds, and repeat. A 10-word text may take me over a minute to type. The speech-to-text feature is sadly really lousy and I spend more time correcting its mistakes than just typing the whole text manually.
