I know the whole “Chief never takes his helmet off” thing was killed in the first episode but I kinda wish it had stayed and then during this scene, He was fully naked but still had the helmet on!!!

I watched the first episode the other night, having never played any of the Halo games or being at all familiar with the story.

By the show’s third episode, “Emergence,” out today on Paramount+, there’s a bullet lodged at the base of his spine. A frighteningly uncanny valley Cortana (Jen Taylor) guides him through some self-surgery, in which he plies the bullet out with a knife.

After the first ep this show was already more interesting to me than just about every single Halo game story. I’m enjoying how chief is struggling with his programming and reckoning with being a propaganda tool. Halsey seems like a very toxic motherly figure and the friction their relationship generates should be…

“We’re making this Halo thing but how do we make people empathize with Chief? How do we show his humanity?”

Isn’t this pretty much the same thing that happened with The Witcher 3? I got it years after launch, but I heard is was a mess that eventually got fixed up into the game that people rave about today.

This is a take I’ve seen elsewhere but I’ll play a little devil’s advocate.

The only reason the scalpers exist is because the chip shortage is preventing Sony and Microsoft from meeting demand. There’s a huge difference between “our customers had to wait a month to get our product” and “our customers have been trying to give us money for over a year and still can’t”.

“ethnic intimidation” = “being non-white around someone who is terrified of everyone who is not white”. It’s like an agoraphobe trying to sue the outdoors for being there.

This isn’t Sony though. It’s a game engine that will be used on nearly all systems. 

They are probably going “Nice! Since this is Unreal Engine, which will also be used on my Xbox since it is made by Epic and not Sony, I will have the exact same privilege to use these features when I game. Sweet!”

The timing of this release is just bang-on perfect for me too, it’s nice to have a little escapism from the anxiety of living in New York City while a deadly virus threatens a complete breakdown in civil order.

Did you nuke these or bake them? Hot Pockets are never great, but there really is a world of difference between the results from a sad crisper sleeve versus dry heat. For my bachelor party, we went out for really nice steaks, then played boardgames for like 12 hours in a hotel room stocked with chips, wings, beer, and sodas. As a long time boardgame geek, it was pretty awesome.

For my bachelor party we went to K1 Racing and afterwards, Dave and Busters. Then everyone who wanted to stick around went back to my place and we had a little SFV tournament. It was pretty awesome.
