Either would do or make it part of the story. This just feels like using American Indian heritage as side dish in the character’s story and marginalization is not okay.

I am aware of how hard it is to prove genetic heritage and the forced assimilation of my people. It still doesn’t change that this man has no connection to a tribe (forced assimilation or nonexistent affiliation) to be portraying an American Indian.

I really hate that our heritage is treated as “special seasoning” in the story of them.

Whoa I’m a mixed black/Chinese and American Indian (my dad was born on a Rez) so I sure as shit don’t look it. But I want an actor who can prove they are American Indian to represent us. If you saw my younger siblings you would swear blind they are Middle Eastern but genetics produce similar features when mixed.
