Sam Simon, who was the showrunner, didn’t want any women around because he was going through a divorce.

This is one of my ride-or-die movies. I watch this movie for the same reasons other people meditate or return to their hometowns. That gazebo scene, tho.

I agree with you so much! I really don’t understand why it doesn’t get more love from P&P fans. The characters felt so alive and still so true to characterizations in the novel.

Unpopular opinion; I actually love the Keira Knightley version of Pride and Prejudice because the actors were all the right age for once, the costumes and settings looked lived in and realisticly kept, it’s beautifully shot, the soundtrack is wonderful and they showed a shyer side of Darcy. ... there have been no fewer than five British TV adaptations of Pride and Prejudice (however, all by the BBC). That’s on top of the movies, the mystery novels, the modern versions, the fan fiction, the zombie remixes.

I usually love Chelsea’s show, but she seemed to be so fucking tone deaf with this interview.

I loved Nash in Getting On. She played the role beautifully.

God, when I was acting, I hated the “sassy Black” whatever description. It was constant. Apparently, no one has ever heard of a shyness, introversion, kookiness, nerdiness, or many other personality traits in Black women. Just “sassy,” “loud,” “takes no shit,” “doesn’t need a man,” etc.

Yeah, I did not read that as a cute, funny aside - which I’m sure is what Handler was going for. I read that as totally disrespectful. Like, the parts were always one-note and Chelsea Handler still only sees Neicy Nash as that one-note caricature of a black woman.

I hate chelsea, she is not different than those other fake white WOKE women, thinking that you see that once in a setting is good enough for everything else beyond that to stop or at least find that the work is done. You can tell by her response to Nash.
