I’m still amazed that American Hitler, a constantly lying severely mentally ill criminal who tried to steal the presidency, is basically tied in the polls with Biden. And considering how Biden has been a prez getting FDR-levels of legislation passed, how news-ish orgs have given him grief for weeks over his gaffes

I agree QA can’t find every bug—the permutations of software on people’s systems is probably exponential and can’t be all tested. But my counter-argument here is that this bug was such a whopper, it should have been found.

We were hit pretty bad at my company; got in at 8 and have been doing nothing but getting users back online via the workaround (which is convoluted AF, but ultimately it works).

Every time I read it, I chuckle—your dad is very cool.

QA can’t always find every bug because it can’t perfectly replicate the environment the SW may be running in everywhere in the world.  But even so, I am not sure why this outage is so widespread.  Did they really update that many systems all at the same time?  Why do that instead of rolling out gradually.  Or WAS this

Putting all your eggs in one basket being a good idea...”genius”.

Time for a second QOTD: is the comment from a simpering troll or the latest example of ASS tech--artificial sniveling stupidity?

Back in College, my dad gave me a poster that said.

Now playing

The Dodge Charger 2.2 with its “mighty” 4-banger:

Well played--kudos.

Atomic batteries to power, turbines to speed!

I over-guesstimated the trip’s cost to give myself plenty of leeway—even an outrageous $2K is chickenfeed compared to the money spent on the box.  Again, no sympathy here.

Not even that:

This. Although it would have been better if the dealer had been called “ChinaBest Car Truck Mercedes Huangyuang LTD”

Spend over a quarter million for a box and not fly there to check it out in person? Are you kidding me? What would a round-trip ticket from Hawaii cost? $2000? Point being for less than 1% sunk cost added to the box, he could’ve been assured the deal was on the level or not. No sympathy here for Sue.

It’s black, it’s Brit, and I don’t care how much sound-deadening material surrounds the cabin, it’s still annoying supercharger whine when you get down to it. All I see is another “cheap to own, expensive to maintain” Britmobile where the (lack of) mileage has the owner finally crying uncle—ND.

Since manufacturers plop the same motor into a variety of cars, I’m baffled at how you can answer this question accurately. Not only that aspect of the QOTD, but different manufacturers have engines so similar that if you can tell the diff, you’re doing better than me.

That is so refreshing...seeing a car with normal-sized sidewalls instead of thin rubber bands stretched around monster rims for that “genius” wagon wheel look.

I swear I’m not making this up. Had the TV on last night while I was in the other room on the computer. Some sitcom came on and the dude said “rich Corinthian leather”.
