Further to my last comment and response to what Mudd said. People on the other side are passionate about this but devolving this to “states rights” (or similar variant) sidesteps that tryranny of the “majority” is still tyranny.
Life is continuous. Abortion at its core is a woman’s health right issue. Everything else is philosophical rationalisation, including religious right wing spin and the Republicans capitalising on this.
On a more cultural level, there are many women who go into OBGYN specialties with the distinct goal of refusing to provide abortions and fighting against them whenever possible. How this squares with the hippocratic oath or patient-centered care is beyond me. This fight has to occur with both top-down and bottom-up…
