They’ll have to go with one of Zaslov’s other picks: Honey Boo-Boo, Joe Millionaire, or one of the drunker Deadliest Catch fishermen.

Well, at least New AV Club is continuing the Old AV Club tradition of hyping some random movie to the hilt only to ultimately give it a C-.

Man, I miss when you could have Stevie Wonder perform “Superstitious” and it didn’t need Hellmo or a lesson. My 4 and 6 year old loved those episodes on HBO MAX.

Excuse me, but Feist has a pretty respectable career of her own. Does Arcade Fire regularly do stuff with the Muppets? No, they do not. Point: Feist.

“I said to my husband, ‘I think everyone is going to see this as a response to what happened to me,’ but it genuinely wasn’t. The first draft of the book was finished at the point certain things happened.”

Joanne doesn’t strike me as someone who does a lot of research when writing. Her self insert character is a YouTuber, something you can’t really do as a full time job anymore unless you have a big enough audience that can land regular sponsorships and donors. Every estimate of YouTube pay on any given website is

As fashionable (and easy) it is to rag on Schneider, SNL’s comedy compass has been out of whack for the last six years. It’s toothless. Per example; McKinnon would regularly impersonate Ellen and the second there was something legitimately spoofable about her and her actions, she dropped it and never did it again.

I feel like... if your best defense of Rowling is “she isn’t as bad as people who murder trans people”... you’ve kind of already lost the the debate about whether Rowling is transphobic or not.

Back when AVClub was still as clever as The Onion, they would have put the photo of the Worst Person You Know meme up for this newswire bit rather than Schneider’s putrid mug.

Yeah, I didn’t get it. Like hey, Hillary, you fucked up big time, and you lost the election. Go away.

It seems to me like subbing in “women” in place of “people who menstruate” is far more reductive. Not all women menstruate. I’m not even just talking about trans women, I’m talking about women who’ve gone through menopause, or any of the other myriad reasons a woman might not menstruate that have nothing to do with

Yeah. I feel like they could have gone the way Hamilton did where the cast as individuals (as themselves) came together at the end did something if they wanted to speak out. But any commentary on her loss in the context of the show should have been done from a comedy standpoint. You can make a joke about a tragedy if

I mean, Rob Schneider sucks, but he’s not wrong in this instance. That was a really embarrassing/cringey moment for a comedy show.

I mean as a queer person I haven’t had many conversations in my community where I had to tell someone that JK Rowling is really against the cause. yes, the majority of people can ignore her comments because Rowling’s comments have no effect on them. that’s how indifference works. But for a lot of us we’re painfully

No not at all, even people who are still fans of harry potter don’t like rowling. Not just for the transphobia but for making shit up about the books and pretending they were always canon.

But she’s the real victim obviously. Because while people may be suffering actual real-life consequences of her actions she has to undergo the true trauma of reading mean words online while sitting in one of the many grand estates she owns.

As if JK Rowling would ever pass up a chance to get attention.

“I’ve never threatened anyone, obviously.”

I think it’s less (at least for me) that I’m bothered by her going full mad queen then the fact that it was done so abruptly. I agree she always had the makings of the next mad queen but at the time in the show she wasn’t even close to there yet. It needed AT LEAST another 2 seasons of her rule to let the slow descent

Yeah we were watching a villain origin story all along. I understand not liking that twist, but I question a TV reviewer who can’t grasp the objective plot movements.
