Well, looks like they might just completely destroy HBO with some of the reckless decisions they’re making. Great.

I think, at the time, the assumption was that the two streaming services would just be folded over. Not that Discovery would burn HBO Max/Warner Bros. to the ground and then slap the HBO Max name on Discovery+.
Discovery spending an obscene amount of money on the HBO and Warner brands just to run them into the ground…
I mean, CNN+ was always a dumb idea, and transforming it into a channel/hub makes sense to me. In theory I’d be okay if they did that with HBO Max as well. HBO Max seems to have more brand recognition, a better pedigree, and a more diverse library, so I’d prefer it if they folded Discovery Plus into HBO Max rather…
At this point, I’ve written off HBOMax as a dead service walking and am only interested in how the fallout from all this might affect the main HBO brand.
I'm missing AT&T .
Fuck a VPN, even. Tell Zaslav, I want him to know it was me torrenting any content I choose from his ruined media empire without paying a dime.
HBO is a brand that’s long been associated with high-budget scripted programs. It’s taken decades to establish that association.
What a perfect metaphor. HBO; paint it all white and cream and write “Live, Laugh, Love” on the wall. Convince some moron its worth twice as much now.
It is nice when a company so plainly tells me they don’t want my money.
If Hacks gets whacked, we riot.
Stale fixer-uppers is not why anyone pays for HBO Max.
There’s something about them, and pretty much all other property show hosts (especially the married ones), that I just...just fucking can’t stand. I wish evil upon them.
Also one time Chip ate a dead cockroach off the ground in an episode and they played it off for laughs, but like...who THE FUCK does that.
Why watch the show “Hacks” when you can watch these hacks do some sort of butt-ugly open floor plan shit on a house!
Eh, this is shaping up to be an epic miscalculation. I’m here for it.
Who wants quality scripted series when you can have awful reality TV?
Because Zaslav helped make the Discovery brand super profitable through a focus on cheap, unscripted, reality TV crap and thinks that’s what streaming services should be. In the last earnings call Discovery+ was far more profitable than HBO Max, even with about a third of subscribers, mostly through ad revenue. He’s…
Some of the best original programming of any streamer, and it’s going out the window for more Property Brothers. Fuck this.
Does anyone pay for Discovery+? HBOMax is the best streaming service and there are many shows I will be disappointed to lose.
Their policy actually defines not being able to have multiple “hot button issues” in the same ad (at least that was how Patel defined it in the Slate(?) article I read that was about this several weeks ago). Patel wanted to run an ad that essentially had abortion rights/gun control/climate change/Jan 6 in it, and they…
I don’t have Hulu, so I don’t care what ads they run. But it’s amusing to see some people assuming that if Hulu doesn’t run these ads, people will never, ever learn about gun control, abortion laws, LGBT rights, etc. and will immediately vote Republican.
