I dunno if that’s necessarily because its a dog per se, more that it’s the hero’s dog and part of the family.
The only Pierce Brosnan James Bond movie I’ve seen is Goldeneye. The graphics aren’t very good but it’s probably the most fun I ever had playing a movie especially when there’s 4 of us and the remote mines mode is on.
the band spilled and sprayed blood and ichor all over the audience
So your description of this show makes me think that, even though I mentioned in my post above that I saw them in 2007 or ‘08, I must have seen them on this tour in what looks like October of 2009 (according to their touring history).
I finally played Actraiser for the first time a few weeks back. It lived up to expectations, but the simulation portions definitely needed beefing up — more than the combat. I mean, the platforming wasn’t perfect, but it also wasn’t imposing dull moments waiting for your magic to come back or for your people to…
I’m currently re-playing Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, which is by far my favorite of this RPG quasi-trilogy Ubisoft has put out recently. I played the game a couple years ago, but I wasn’t able to play the DLC (wrong disc region), and the PlayStation store had a good deal on the whole bundled thing, so I jumped back…
I love Actraiser and this remake is such a monkey paw result. I’m happy Square is acknowledging it to this degree, but it is just so, so hideous to look at. Between this and Ghosts & Goblins Resurrection that came out earlier this year, what the hell is going on with 2D art direction in Japan? Why are they putting…
Don’t have much to add to this. The only thing I know about the original Actraiser I learned from Joseph Anderson. It does seem like the kind of game that a remaster could ruin, though. The people who liked it have very specific memories.
Backlogged: Delayed By D&D Edition
Gonna try to finish Tales of Arise this weekend. I’m at the final boss area. Been good game overall so far. The plot kind of falls apart at the end when they bring up another twist that doesn’t really make sense.
I remember the first time I played ActRaiser. It was at my cousins’ house. We were visiting, and they had the game that I’d never even heard of. It was raining, so I gave it a try. Holy shit was I hooked. PCs were still too expensive for most families back then, so this and the SNES Sim City were the games that made…
My favorite part of ActRaiser was that part in the island town where you have to use Earthquake to cause a land bridge to form between the main island and the smaller one.
Been a long time since posting here. Playing resident evil village, really enjoying it. I really like that it’s a tense game but not stress/anxiety inducing like resident evil 7 was (especially at the beginning). Poor Ethan...
This is the same studio who made Dark Messiah Of Might & Magic, in case you couldn’t tell.
I only now realize that I was completely ignorant to the fact that the same Studio made Actraiser and Terranigma. Which, come to think of it, is no surprise at all. I have to admit that I did not play any of those games when they originally came out (despite being someone who grew up with the tail-end of the 8-bit…
I’ve dipped back into Jedi: Fallen Order which is getting pretty interesting- the first leg of Dathomir was a nice break from fighting mostly stormtroopers, all the stuff with the Force witches and such is neat, and then you go to Ilum for some Zelda-esque puzzle solving. The game is really weirdly janky at times-…
Actraiser Renaissance was such a big surprise drop last week. The original Actraiser isn’t a game I usually think about when I’m compiling a list of all-time favorites, but it’s one I can’t go 5 years without replaying. Sad to hear they didn’t quite capture the tone of the original story - the “the people don’t need…
I haven’t beaten the game yet (I suck at platformers and generally avoid them which should be a testament to just how good the original game was) but I have yet to encounter anything as compelling as the Milkman’s world. It is fun though and ridiculously charming when it’s not causing me to throw my controller in…
I fully agree! I am really amazed at how good Psychonauts 2 is. I actually started and got a couple hours in, and then restarted just because it’s so good. I know that sounds weird, but I was kinda just buzzin’ through it not really paying my whole attention at first, and I had this moment like “Wait, this is actually…
