Finally finishing up Mass Effect 3 this weekend, it’s been such a joy to revisit this trilogy. I’m not as hot on ME3 as I used to be; it very much plays like a straight-up action game as opposed to the more thoughtful and talky sci-fi of the first two. But the combat is still solid, and it really nails the scope of

I don’t want to spoil too much but I’m close to being FINISHED finished with Returnal and it’s been a blast. Guns have never felt this good in a third person shooter and other studios should at least take notice of that, if nothing else. The whole game is a quiet little masterpiece and the audio design is to die for -

I mentioned last week that I had started playing Tell Me Why (Ain’t nothin’ but a heartache) which DONTNOD (makers of Life Is Strange) had made free for June as a celebration of Pride Month. Well, I finished it this week (it helps that Environmental Narrative Games/”Walking Simulators” are among my favorite genres)

it’s worth checking out (as is most of the rest of Wadjet Eye’s catalog, we note in passing)

I finished up my Hollow Knight replay, earned 112% on my save file, beat 57 Zotelings in the Eternal Ordeal, and completed the Path of Pain. I didn’t realize there was a reward for doing sufficiently well at the Eternal Ordeal, but I now have the most beautiful title screen theme, and I’d previously thought Path of

I am so happy to be finally done with Hollow Knight, as much I loved the game for everything right the studio Team Cherry put in it.

Finished up Mass Effect legendary edition. I played renegade the entire trilogy and got the worst ending in each game. Everyone died during me2 and I chose the stubborn asshole ending in 3. I forgot how good these games are. The combat is still pretty bad, but the idea that you’re commanding a ship in a sci Fi setting

I picked up Maneater, the game about being a shark, on sale. It’s pretty fun! A little janky, I can see why some reviews were a little ambivalent because there are issues with targeting sometimes and camera movement is a bit off- but the game so far is forgiving enough that it’s not a big problem. There’s plenty of

Same here, my backlog keeps growing, and I just keep falling back into Minecraft. It just doesn’t instill stress or anxiety like so many other games, and not so much the ‘why am I doing this well into my 40s?’ that so many other games make me feel. I played AC Valhalla for a few hours, or days, but then I realized I’d

Valheim is great until you get like 40 hours in and realize you’ve seen and done close to everything. The game is not done and with a team of like 5 devs it’s going to take a LONG time for it to get good (and optimized to run decently).  There is barely any reason to leave your first continent or two if you have every

Nice to see some clicker representation, lol. They are literally the dumbest things on earth, but I love them.

I continue my playthrough of the Assassin’s Creed Series, and am now on Unity. I’ve found myself liking the pre-RPG series more, but so far, I still enjoy the recent RPG games much more.

Thankfully they improved the climbing a lot, which was always my main problem with the game, but some of the mini-games/side

I finished Control: Ultimate Edition’s base game, and jumped immediately into the first bit of DLC. I was worried about whether I’d like a “survival horror” game at the onset, but it’s not a jump scare experience, nor are any of the visuals particularly off-putting. Not having ammo scarcity is a huge plus in that

(I swear I’ll play Valheim more soon, though; please don’t yell at me, Viking fans.)

I may have to give this Valheim game a try. . .I’m sick of WoW right now.  This week, I was able to get “Dead Blanchy’s” mount, and I feel like I beat the game.  I care nothing for questing in Hell and collecting souls in the afterlife.  I want happier fantasy and adventure, and Bliz has ruined my game with this

Still playing Persona 5 Strikers. Just finished Jail #2. Still enjoying it. Not much more to say.

It’s not that odd that Minecraft holds up visually, given its art-style is fairly abstract and stylish. What’s truly impressive is how much the gameplay holds up, and keeps slowly evolving.

As I touched on in last week’s thread, I gave in to the realities of the GPU shortage and ordered myself a new pre-built desktop PC to become my main gaming device rather than my infamous potato laptop. Which means that I’ve gone from this as my main system:

Still playing Yakuza Like a Dragon. I have three chapters left and I’m very excited to finish it. Also might take a quick break from starting any new games to prepare for the wave of new stuff coming in April through June.

I decided to try Divinity: Original Sin II, and got that and the first game on Steam. I’ve played a bit of it and while there are some technical issues (it runs super slow fullscreen but if I run it windowed it’s perfectly fine), so far so good. Nice to have a modern fantasy RPG with turn-based combat. I decided to go
