On the first day of Christmas,

God bless us F-eryone!

An F! A glorious F! It’s a Christmas miracle! Thank you, St. Ignatiy! Thank you for the amount and depth of film and literary history to a pan of economics-driven filmic shovelware! I didn’t expect to learn about the provenance of Sherlock Holmes adaptations and original texts.

Man, you just made my morning so much better. I got a genuine good laugh from those stories and the bear-loving dwarf. None of my friends share my more fantasy/gamey hobbies but I hope one day I can play D&D and create some of my own stories.

Dove heavily into No Man’s Sky for a bit, due to recent updates (though it’s hard to tell what’s changed.) I did discover a planet inhabited entirely by strange orbs, that was pretty cool, and bits and pieces of the setting are actually starting to coalesce. That said I’m mostly there just to chill out and fly a

Beat RDR2. I was pleasantly surprised at the writing in RDR2, while it was such a bleak story it felt like Rockstar was trying to say something other than just being cynical which was nice to see (the scene with the nun made me bawl). I tried RD Online and it was...fine. I feel like the fun is gonna wear off quick with

I just finished running Lost Mines for a group of new players! It’s a great introduction to the game and a fantastic example of how a sandbox campaign can work. Some of the fights can be tough for first time players, I found- don’t hesitate to remind them that they need to use terrain to their advantage (i.e. get into

Beat Sabre offers a good workout without exhausting you.  Like those boxing games, holy smokes if you’re fit enough play something like knockout league.  For me, it’s way too much.

Unusually for me, this week started off with some tabletop gaming. Specifically, I started to run the Dungeons & Dragons 5E starter adventure Lost Mine of Phandelver for son_limey & lost_wifey.

So I bought an Xbox one on Black Friday and I’ve been slowly buying cheap games for it. I just recently got Halo reach and the Master Chief collection. I’m having fun going through this franchise. I never had a 360 so it’s fun to play a lot of these games I missed. Backward compatibility is a huge plus for the xbone

*spits tobacco*

I tried installing the Steam Link app on an old Fire Stick (apparently they’re called Fire TV now, that’s how little I was paying attention) yesterday. It was mainly an academic exercise, as my PC is so close to my big TV that I could literally plug in the controller to the computer I was streaming (more on that

I finally bit the bullet and got a PS4 VR bundle; it’s something I’ve been wanting for ages, and I figured why the hell not. I’m looking forward to Borderlands VR, because the Borderlands games is one of my favorite comfort food franchises. For now, I’ve got the Creed/Superhot bundle, because it came with the Move

I am very much looking forward to doing nothing but gaming this weekend.

That’s a great description of what the intent of a “fitness game” really is, Will:to get someone to pretend they like getting their heart rate up. I prefer my fitness game software to be actual fitness - for me, nothing beat EA Sports Active 2 on the Wii, with its heart rate monitor and acclerometers on an arm and leg

Totally agreed on Beat Saber!! Even my non-gamer girlfriend is high on it.. the satisfaction of being a slick ninja plus the satisfaction of being one with the music combined is a really satisfying feeling. Though I need to take a short break while my biceps, shoulders, and elbows recover.. we’ve made it almost to

I still have a backlog as long as my arm— I did a meticulous count last week, and it came to exactly 120 games I’ve paid for but not played for more than an hour or so, for a total about 2800 hours according to my personalized adaptation of “HowLongToBeat.com” estimated play times. But my usual wintertime nostalgia

Salutations~!
