You’ll never survive the opening section of RE2 if you just shoot every zombie that comes at you, you foolish young punks! You have to thread your way through a bunch of zombies with a very limited ammo supply. Also, get off my lawn!

/comfort. I experience much of that same inadvertent dissonance when younger gamers venture into old Sierra adventure titles from the ‘80s/‘90s. “NO auto-save!?” “You have to go around text-parsering every basic command and/or pixel icon hump things?” “No objectives listed? What TF do I do now!?!”
I gave Bloodborne a shot, and it kicked my ass. Like, right out of the gate, it gave my ass a swift, Australian booting, and didn’t let up. I am flat-out not cut out for these games.
Help my eldest daughter progress through Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Final Remix. The game seems perfect for a sub-10 year old in terms of story and characters; she just struggles with some of the controls and gets lost occasionally. For myself, maybe drive around in GTA V a little bit. The ability to skip difficult sections…
Playing some more Yakuza 6: The Song of Life this weekend. The game is a real slow starter, but once it gets going, it’s full steam ahead. Now that the secret of Haruto’s parentage has been revealed, things are really heating up. I kind of called the twist, but it was done in a way that I found very satisfying.
As always, behind the times, but... I’m hoping to *finally* finish Dark Souls 2, which has cursed me from day one. Since then, I’ve made four failed runs, on two machines, with various file-fuckups ending each game after 30 to 90+ hours. In my most recent 48-hr run, the disc suddenly refused to load anymore, so I…
What a coincidence! I just decided this week to dive back in to Dark Souls II to finish my abandoned playthrough, and I totally agree that picking up these games is just like getting back on a bike. I had left off months ago with one section remaining on the Iron Keep, and I was surprised at how quickly I got back…
I assumed I was gonna play Detroit this weekend but I don’t think I’m gonna get it until I get through LWA Chamber of Time as I’m just having too much fun with it to pull myself away from it now (I say that now and might end up buying Detroit this weekend anyways because I’m weak...). I also gotta get through God of…
Well, I finished Mass Effect 2 a few days ago. I used a guide and got all 12 of my companions through the suicide mission. I can barely remember the first time I played through, but I think I got Mordin Solus killed because I interpreted his science skill as tech ability.
So after putting some shekels aside for the last few months, I decided to upgrade my PS4 to a the limited edition PS4 Pro Glacier White system. I’m hoping it arrives this weekend and then I’ll be dipping into God of War finally.
While I’m getting Dark Souls Remastered soon as a late birthday gift, I’m probably not going to dive back into the original and best version of Lordran for a little while. For one thing, I still have to beat Orphan of Kos in Bloodborne and finish that game before I do any more From Software business.
I’ll be taking my first crack at Overwatch this weekend as it’s free and doesn’t require PS Plus. The toxic community is legendary, but I figure for free I can see what I think about it over the long weekend.
This weekend I’m playing:
On a mini vacation now, came to the shore last night. The house doesn’t have internet or an hd tv, but it does have an NES hooked up to a tv from the 80s. But I brought my Switch, so when my wife’s family goes to bed at 9 pm, I’ll have something to do! No kart/splatoon online is a bummer though. I’ve been playing Lego…
On a “dressed as people trying to kill you” vein, I started the new Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon on 3DS yesterday, and for someone that for the most part missed the 8- and 16-bit console action platformers (my only real interaction was playing about 60% of Aria of Sorrow on the GBA), I’m enjoying this iteration of…
Hopped back on the Knockout League train and managed to finally perfect Sir Octopunch and move on to the Iron Maiden. I was expecting an easier fight, as once you figure out the raised tentacles move it’s not so bad on Normal, but on Grudge he’s a different beast altogether (har har). The extended camoflauge is bad…
I decided to give Far: Lone Sails a go, after seeing it recommended on here. I found it quite pleasant, though I normally tend to watch other people play games like that (Limbo, Inside, The Final Station, etc) on YouTube. It wrapped up in one, single session, too. I could make a ham-fisted attempt at unravelling the…
This weekend I’ll be playing on the beach with my daughter, while my wife puts on white pajamas and takes part in a karate course in Portland. That’s Portland, Dorset - which is a small island just off England’s south coast.
I just got this for midnight release and I can’t wait to play, especially since it’s been a couple of years. I am kind of disappointed that they didn’t include more upgrades (like some were speculating they might use the Bloodborne/DSIII Engine) but that’s probably for the best since it might start to interfere with…
I’ve made some pretty good progress in Final Fantasy X, which took some interesting turns in terms of the plot, and fucking Seymour just. won’t. die. I mean how many incarnations can you whip out ...
