Finished SteamWorld Dig. Fun, little game with an excellent progression systems to keep the game moving forward at a brisk pace. Maybe a little too fast as roaming around isn’t as appealing as drilling down as fast as possible to get to the good stuff. I mean, that’s the goal of the game but even after finishing it, I

Same. I actually just watched BB this year. It was kind of fun to read the old av reviews.

Does anyone ever consume a piece of pop culture that’s really outside the zeitgeist but you have a lot of thoughts on? I’m finally reading Team of Rivals and really want to discuss, but it was a best seller like, 12 years ago and it’s a history book, so it’s not exactly pop culture.

I’m finding it interesting that I’m seeing more thinkpieces talking about the need for nuanced, difficult conversations regarding sexual consent. And, hey, they’re right!

Oddly enough, I’ve never really played the Rome one very much, though I’ve heard the tales of Roman Ironclads battering the gates of Carthage by the scenario end date.

Well that cover art totally rips off the art from the original DOOM.

“It’s 100 percent a Metroid and Castlevania clone”

More Xenoblade Chronicles 2 for Merve this weekend. [MILD SPOILERS FOLLOW]

The wife finally allowed me to get a Switch a couple of weeks ago.

On Xbox, I will continue my work on Destiny 2 & Cuphead, given the chance. This weekend is my niece’s baptism however, and so I will be bringing my switch to the after party for gaming with bros hopefully. That would mean Mario Kart, and probably one of the Jackbox games.

I want to voice my appreciation for this column, which has been one of the very best things about the AV Club. Thank you so much for your hard work. I am excited about the modern superhero movie focused columns that are going to follow-that is one of my absolute favorite film types!

That’s some really slick art on the board game! Cool to see. Also, I suspect The Mummy: Demastered will be one of those oddities that people talk about in ten years as the rare example of a thoughtful, inventive movie adaptation done by a quality studio. The next Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay if you

Uh oh. I may have to pick up a copy of Scythe, or at least try it out at my local board game shop. We have some friends that love playing Agricola, but it never really grabbed us as much. I think the parallel farm-building structure, where your only interaction with other people is to grab the most valuable

I’m still having a rough time with Orphan of Kos in Bloodborne- every fifth attempt or so I can get him into phase two but by then frustration sets in and I just suck. Never mind Laurence, who kills me in one hit no matter how much fire resistance I stack up. I’m wondering I I just want to try and finish the base game

Haven’t been in the mood to play an involved story/quest, so I’ve been doing runs in Enter the Gungeon. I’ve been trying to complete the shortcut to the second floor. Last night, I beat the Oubliette but I couldn’t pick up the artifact hidden there because I never got a cell key needed to reach it. Turns out an enemy

Sad to see the column go (until the end of each year anyway), but it’s always satisfying to see each a project like this reach its conclusion. Congrats on finishing what’s always been a delightful read.

I’ve still been mainlining Skyrim VR, and I’m around the point where I got tired of the 2D version (bout 30 hours in). I do still think the characters and dialogue are dull, and the combat is pretty basic. But, dammit, when a dragon swoops in over a mountain range and I’m watching it fly over my head and land behind

Having finally gotten all the prophecy verse weapons and associated ghost shell in Destiny 2, I’m a bit adrift at the moment. I’ll be going on a bit of a Destiny hiatus, maybe helping my clan with the raid on weekends, until the next expansion, which leaves a bit of a hole.

Thank you Tom. This series has been the most excellent thing since The New Cult Canon. Looking forward to the next one.

Really, really going to miss this column. It’s the last of what the AV Club used to be like. Very excited for your Age of Heroes column next!
