How does doing this benefit them other than the lulz? Its just screwing over people who payed for the game and want to play.

I think you have to have the console registered in order to redeem the code (I'm talking about the xbox idk about the ps)

Just to be clear, you have to purchase a digital copy on last gen to receive the free upgrade. Hard copies from physical retailers like Gamestop and Amazon will not get upgrades.

I see a pretty simple solution to this: Log into PSN or XBL from a computer, redeem code, and download whenever you get the console. I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but redeeming the code is essentially "buying" a copy of the game, right? With both of those Marketplaces, your "purchase" should stay on your account…
