I find Robert McCammon to be completely underrated and mostly forgotten for some reason. Between this book, Boy’s Life and Wolf’s Hour, he put out some great books. I think he got in a fight with his publisher about not wanting to be pigeon-holed as a horror writer and basically quit the business for a decade or more.
