The main purpose of the Prius was a marketing exercise. That is about the only thing it has done well. You can get better fuel economy and proven longevity out of a diesel VW.

(SIGH) It is not really up for debate. What comes out of the exhaust pipe of a Prius is cleaner than most vehicles. This is a fact. The thing that people tend to forget is the environmental impact of the production of the Prius and its projected longevity.

Yes, this 1000%!!! People have become so disconnected with the driving process that they are becoming more dangerous. Between that and the myriad of safety features that will save them if they get in to trouble, they feel they have little incentive to really engage in the driving procces.
