I’m liking everything about this but the name, which I guess isn’t super important for the commercial space. BrightDrop honestly sounds like a random Chinese EV company in my mind, if I had to picture it as a car company. But just on name alone, it sounds like a brand of “smart” lightbulbs. Maybe I’m being too literal.

I’m pretty sure Adam was referring to the pitch. As in the van wasn’t the largest focus of the marketing. Not that the van itself was built as an afterthought.

We called them “Cherry Bombs” growing up.

Glasspack exhausts. I’m not sure if it was a brand, or what exactly it meant, but I used to hear the old-school guys talking about “Glasspack” exhausts, and even using the old Google machine now... I still don’t know what it means. I seems to just mean: “Exhaust that exits through the center of the muffler” -- but…

Also, do we use the term “slush box” anymore for automatics? Aren’t nearly all cars “slush boxes” now, unless they’re dual clutch?

All the carburetor slang is gone (mostly for good). things like 6-pack, double pumper, dual quad, and the rest.

I only ever hear the older guys say “idiot light” now, if ever.

Does anyone call their car a “whip” anymore? That was hot for a second. I really liked that term.

“Ricer.” Growing up in the immediate aftermath of The Fast and the Furious, it was all about the ricers.

“Mag” wheels... these were huge in the ‘80's.
