Yeah tell me about it. In fairness, it was usually in circumstances where, like, the music minister’s son was dating the daughter of a 4th grade teacher - it wasn’t EVERY breakup - but it was a bubble, so a fair amount of that kind of thing still happened.

Best comment, thank you. Some people want to get excited. Some people are ambivalent. But also, how you personally feel about it is not really that relevant or interesting.

Have you considered that in light of how important this election is the rest of us just don’t really give a shit if you feel conflicted or not about it? He’s not the first (or second, or third, or fourth) choice for a lot of us but we haven’t spent the last 6 months crying about it.

Engaging in the democratic process is a civic duty. Instead of expecting it to be some fun, fulfilling experience, and then feeling let down, let it simply be doing what good you can for your community with the tools you have.

Exactly. Politics is a job. It’s great when an inspiring candidate comes along that grabs the public’s imagination. But even they get stuck doing the job.

Exactly this. I went to a tiny religious high school and when I got to my giant public college I was truly shocked that no one cared that I made out with two guys on the same night. My high school teachers literally took sides when students broke up.

There is a damn good reason people are concerned by the response.

I think one piece of the problem is hoping to feel excited or inspired by politics on an ongoing basis. It’s fantastic that as a first time voter you felt so inspired, but maybe that was more about the first time than the vote, know what I mean? Do you feel inspired by upholding your other civic responsibilities? Get

Or maybe too many of us have seen where this nonsense leads. 2000, 2004, 2016.

I am not in a bad mood and this annoyed me as well. This is not the time to look for the absolutely perfect candidate. This is near-literal do or die time.

I like this comment. Why does Kamala have to be perfect for this to be inspiring? She is far from perfect, which puts her in the company of exactly every politician ever. Still something to cheer.

I am so tired of these stupid purity tests that are specifically targeted at women candidates. If you want Trump and friends to kill more Americans, then just say it alrrady.

Every Britney video makes me extremely uncomfortable.

I really strive to have the inner peace that Dolly has. She always seems to just know who she is, knows what she believes in and what she doesn’t, and speaks out when appropriate. She just seems to have such balance in life. And her life story is truly amazing. To see where she came from, the pure crap she dealt with

I can’t believe I didn’t know about this years ago:

Now playing

I’ve never been a big fan of Dolly Parton the musician (while at the same time respecting her as a musician and songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist) I have always been a fan of Dolly the person. I’m just not a fan of country music.

I’m gonna need to hear the audio on that to be convinced she didn’t say “lily white asses.”

I don’t know if I’d call that a breezy little piece. I would find it hilarious if they get busted down the road for hiring an undocumented nanny. I sincerely hope that ten years from now they have both faded into relative obscurity.

I hope they will grow old without loved ones, withering away in the dark corridors of a third rate convalescent home.
